We work closely with you to strategise a mix of elements, from flight paths, site preparation and providing briefings and shot lists ahead of filming. Where we are required to film from the outside into a premises we also submit all the documents required to get clearance from both local authorities and the CAA to help lighten the load on your end!

We also provide a list of things to consider before filming i.e. making sure anything unwanted in the video is hidden, external people are briefed not to be in shots, sending out notices of filming and waiver forms for anyone who wishes to be excluded from the videos etc.

On the day, we always arrive an hour early to do our walkthrough, brief those involved and to make sure everything is in place for when we start flying making the process seamless for everyone.

Whether we can film the drone tour with members/guests on site is something we take very seriously and requires careful consideration. Safety is our absolute top priority. We need to assess several key factors before making a decision.

Things to consider when filming with the public:

  • Controlling their movements is very difficult so the flights need to be worked in a way that ensures we get a creative shot but mitigate any sudden path changes or actions.
  • Shots are at risk of being ruined due to people starting at the drone, being surprised by it and stopping or trying to take photos of it can spoil the end result.
  • Where kids are involved, they tend to want to grab the drones, chase it and touch it which adds tremendous risk

If you want to film with the public involved, we have a few recommendations to ensure safety and the ability to deliver a strong final product:

  • Where possible, send an email to guests/members with enough time before filming notifying them of the drone filming taking place
  • Brief guests/members the do's and don'ts while filming i.e. don't take photos while we're flying and do look energetic and happy!
  • Place a sign at the entrance with the notice of filming

We will also do our best to speak to guests/members giving them a brief on what is taking place and what they should do to ensure complete safety at all times.

We don't need any flight clearance from the CAA as the indoor airspace is not restricted however, if we plan to do an external to internal drone tour, where applicable i.e. restricted airspaces, we would need to contact the CAA as well as NATS to get clearance.

Clearance timeframes vary depending on a number of factors but it is best to plan for anything from a few days to a week or two to prepare for any back and forth from the authorities.

To limit the weight on our custom built drones, our batteries are designed to be as light and efficient as possible, with that in mind, we're able to achieve around 6min of continuous flight time. To give you an idea of what that translates to, we were able to fly a continuous flight for the world's largest inflatable course (which is 70,000 sq.ft.) in East Kilbride with time to spare!

The short answer is yes but the real answer is, with a DJI drone, you're extremely restricted in terms of the dynamic movement and what is possible due to all the various sensors and signal requirements for the drone to operate. With their spatial movement, DJI drone's aren't able to execute the types of shots an FPV drone can.

These aspects take away from the free flowing and mind boggling agility that an FPV drone can offer. FPV drones are perfect for indoors as they're TINY, weigh very little and can active shots like no other drone or gimbal can.
